Dad needs a new wheelchair
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Zach Rosenfeld and I am fundraising on behalf of my dad, Harvey. As many of you all know my dad has Multiple Sclerosis, a very difficult disease. Dad has dealt with many issues throughout the years and always with the most positive attitude anybody in his situation could have.
Dad has been in his current custom wheelchair for over seven years now. Medicare allows the ability to replace these chairs every five years. However, with the pandemic occurring in 2020 this was pushed back almost three years. For those who aren’t familiar with these types of wheelchairs they are VERY expensive and extremely vital for my dad as this is his sole way of moving around and having just a small amount of independence that he has left.
Medicare covers these chairs at almost 100% however there is a small cost to my dad in the amount of $ 6000. Dads new chair is completely customized to his needs. With new technology available to him he is able to control this chair with his head! This is absolutely a game changer for him as he no longer has the use of his arms and hands. The chair also has a customized seat built specifically for Dad to give him the most comfort and strength possible. Other features of his new chair include a joystick at the headrest of the chair giving whoever is behind my dad the ability to control the chair without having to bend over Dad or bending over themselves. The chair also has custom footplates, arm rests, and head rest all specifically customized for Dads needs.
The reason we are seeking donations is because my Mom (Kathy) is retired and is his SOLE caregiver. My parents live on a very strict income and unfortunately they don’t have the funds to pay the remainder of the balance to Medicare.
My wife, my sister, my brother in law, and myself humbly ask for any help you all might be able to provide and we are grateful for anything that they may receive.
With all of our love,
The Rosenfeld and Saidat family’s.
