QuanTâm (501c3) supports LGBTQ Youth

Thank you for taking the time to read our GoFundMe page to learn about how you can help LGBTQ Youth! We are QuanTâm, a 501c3 nonprofit (EIN: 85-1585782) dedicated to helping underserved youth feel valued and develop confidence to take up space. As our founder Lan Nguyen Chaplin, Ph.D put it, “The power of privilege is to support people with less privilege.”

 

QuanTâm is Vietnamese for: doing things with heart and paying attention to small details in the process. As a Chicago-based group, we take pride in diversity and understand the importance of inclusion so that all people can be authentically themselves.

 

Our team cares deeply for LGBTQ people as we have all sought safe places to be our true selves in one way or another, and we want the LGBTQ youth, who are often overlooked, to have safe places to thrive as well. This is why we are thrilled to partner with Howard Brown, Broadway Youth Center (BYC) this fall to support and uplift LGBTQ youth.

 

ABOUT BYC: BYC has served the LGBTQ youth for the past 17 years by providing a safe space for those who experience housing insecurity and poverty. They too do things with heart, as they believe in ensuring no young person be turned away. At BYC, they don’t just provide basic needs, but also pay attention to the smaller details of what can enrich the lives of their residents. Their many offerings include:

 

• medical services

• mental health care

• resource advocacy

• educational and employment service

 

BYC’s mission: “make life happier and healthier for young people (12-24) in LGBTQ.”

 

The Broadway Youth Center has served more than 2,500 youths annually. Guess what? BYC has a new location and will now be able to offer programming for up to 4,500 youths! However, this means they need the community’s help to keep the center stocked with essentials.

That’s where we come in ☺

 

Since we love BYC’s mission, we’re raising money to help BYC provide essentials (food, clothing, first aid supplies, etc.) to their residents (GOAL: $2,500) The money will go directly to BYC so they can purchase the essentials themselves. After all, they know their residents’ needs best. Any extra funds will go toward our non-profit so we can help more children in need.
