QUARTER OF A MILLION STEPS IN A WEEK!
I'm Esther,
supporting young people has always been a passion of mine so I had no hesitation in choosing for this group of people for the mad challenge of walking a quarter of a million steps in a week! This is:
- 35,715 steps a day
- 16 miles a day (I walk roughly 2,200 steps a mile)
- 112 miles in the week
I will begin this challenge on 27th September and finish on 3rd October 2024 and I will be working during this challenge which makes this even more difficult (apologies to my colleagues in advance, as I may be a little grumpy!)
The Young People’s Service (YPS) is a vibrant 24/7 housing support service for individuals aged 18-25. This essential homeless prevention service welcomes many young people transitioning out of the care system, offering a compassionate ear and a robust support network to help them thrive independently.
YPS goes beyond just providing a roof over their heads. It empowers young people by teaching them crucial life skills such as managing their finances, understanding their benefit entitlements, making appointments, using public transport, and budgeting for the month.
But that’s not all! YPS also supports their well-being journey, helping them explore their hobbies and interests, building their confidence, and shaping them into well-rounded individuals. Whether it’s assisting with education, homework, driving lessons, or other personal development areas, YPS is there every step of the way, ensuring these young people have the tools they need to succeed and most importantly thrive on their own and live enriching lives independently.
So when I’m tired, or just want to continue snoozing instead of getting up at silly o’clock to walk 8 or 10 miles before I even start work, I’m going to remember that with every step and every penny I raise WILL make a difference.
