Qudsia Scholarship for Afghan Women
"In the year when Malala Yousufzai won the Nobel Prize for peace, I believe it is particularly important for us to recognise the Malalas of our own country. Some of our Malalas, like young Qudsia, have lost their lives, others are alive and want to continue the struggle against terrorism through education – they need our help."
We are raising money to set up a scholarship for women in Afghsniatan. This scholarship honors the memory of women that have been killed in terrorist attacks over the years in Afghanistan.
Specifically, we have named this scholarship after Qudsia (in the photo), who was killed in a suicide attack in November 2014 in Kabul as she walked to attend her psychology class at Kabul University.
It is important that terror does not become a chain around the ankles of women in Afghanistan stopping them from leaving homes to get an education. Therefore this scholarship will:
1- provide fees and other expenses of three impoverished Afghan women to study in some of the top private Kabul universities;
2- provide living expenses for women to study away from home in large cities of Afghanistan;
3- eventually provide financial aid to women to pursue postgraduate education outside of Afghanistan.
This program is run by a group of Afghan voluteers who are either professionals or students living both within and outside Afghanistan. All funds raised will be used for the scholarships as the group that runs the program are volunteers.
