Que el COVID-19 no arruine mis estudios.

Para empezar, te agradezco mucho que saques un momento de tu tiempo para interesarte por mi historia.  

Mi nombre es Mateo Echeverry Tabares y soy, hasta este momento, estudiante a punto de comenzar mi cuarto curso del Grado en Comunicación Audiovisual por la Universitat Politècnica de València. Lamentablemente, y debido a la crisis mundial del COVID que nos azota a todos, la posibilidad de acabar mis estudios está en peligro. 

Desde hace 5 años, mi pasión y vocación ha sido el mundo audiovisual, crear historias con imágenes, intentar transmitir aquello que siento y que veo y hacerlo de la manera más profesional posible. Por esta razón ingresé a estudiar en la universidad aquello que puede brindarme un futuro creando contenido y dedicándome a cumplir mis sueños y objetivos. Mi nota media el curso pasado fue de un 8'22 con 3 sobresalientes. Poseo varias certificaciones, como la de Editor de Vídeo del IX Congreso Internacional Comunica2, y como fotógrafo del evento Visoren Fest 2018.

Provengo de una familia humilde, en la que mi madre, inmigrante y nacionalizada en España desde hace 20 años, ha tenido que luchar y trabajar incansablemente para sacar adelante a mis dos hermanas y a mí. Todo ello como única cabeza de familia. Gracias a la vida y a las oportunidades que nos ha brindado el poder residir en las Baleares, yo he podido acceder a mis estudios universitarios. De hecho, hasta la fecha, mi propósito siempre había sido trabajar durante los veranos desde que tengo 16 años y utilizar esos ahorros para poder costear mi manutención y alquiler durante los últimos 3 años de carrera en Gandía, Valencia, a 300 km de mi hogar habitual. 

Por desgracia este año no ha sido posible seguir mi plan habitual. Mallorca vive del turismo, y como consecuencia de la pandemia me ha sido, como a muchos, prácticamente imposible encontrar empleo. Actualmente sigo buscando empleo, sin parar, e intentando aprovechar cualquier subvención disponible para poder continuar mis estudios, pero el curso está a las puertas y me veo en una situación desesperada. De hecho mi madre actualmente tiene trabajo a media jornada, pero finaliza contrato el 12 de septiembre y su sueldo sólo le permite llegar a duras penas a final de mes por lo que únicamente puede brindarme una ayuda mínima.

Es cierto que he sido beneficiario de una beca del MEC anualmente, pero el problema reside en que los ingresos pueden retrasarse hasta el segundo semestre de curso, haciendo muy complicada la financiación de todos los gastos desde el mes de septiembre, que es cuando inicia el curso, o incluso peor, que salga denegada.

Es por ello, que en vista de la situación, he descubierto que el micromecenazgo online de GoFundMe es una posible solución a mi caso. Creo que cualquiera en mi lugar buscaría una salida y dadas las circunstancias esta es de las pocas que me quedan.

Agradezco muchísimo a todas las personas que quieran y deseen participar sin ningún tipo de obligación ni compromiso. También agradecería inmensamente a todos aquellos que puedan compartir esta campaña, sin que tengan que aportar nada. Toda ayuda es bienvenida. Con un clic puede llegar a mucha gente desinteresada que pueda colaborar.  

El objetivo que comprende esta campaña servirá para cubrir los siguientes gastos:
- Pago de la matrícula (890€) frente a la posible denegación de la Beca MEC.
- Pago del alquiler en Gandía desde septiembre a Enero (1.140€)
- Gastos de servicios, internet, manutención y alimentación. 
- 2 traslados entre Valencia y Mallorca durante el primer semestre del curso.

De nuevo, sé que como yo, pueden haber muchas personas, pero creo que es justo buscar toda solución posible para poder ejercer mi derecho a estudiar y formarme.

To begin with, I really appreciate you taking a moment of your time to be interested in my story.

My name is Mateo Echeverry Tabares and I am, until now, a student about to start my fourth year of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Politècnica de València. Unfortunately, and due to the global COVID crisis that affects us all, the possibility of finishing my studies is in danger.

I have several certifications, such as the Video Editor of the IX Comunica2 International Congress, and as a photographer for the Visoren Fest 2018 event.

I come from a humble family, in which my mother, an immigrant and nationalized in Spain for 20 years, has had to fight and work tirelessly to raise my two sisters and me. All this as the sole maintainer of the family. Thanks god and the opportunities that being able to reside in the Balearic Islands has given us, I have been able to get accepted to my university studies. In fact, to date, my purpose had always been to work during the summers since I was 16 and use those savings to pay for my maintenance and rent during the last 3 years of my degree in Gandía, Valencia, 300 km from my home.

Unfortunately this year it was not possible to follow my usual plan. Mallorca lives off tourism, and as a consequence of the pandemic it's been practically impossible to find a job. Currently I am non-stop still applying for jobs, and trying to take advantage of any available grant to be able to continue my studies, but the schoolyear is on the doorstep and I am in a desperate situation. In fact my mother currently has a part-time job, but her contract ends on September 12th and her salary only allows her to barely make it to the end of the month, so she can only give me minimal help.

It is true that I have been a beneficiary of an anual government scholarship but the problem is that the income can be delayed until the second semester of the course, making it very difficult to finance all expenses since September, which is when the schoolyear starts, or even worse, it could result denied.

That is why, due to the situation, I have discovered that GoFundMe is a possible solution to my case. I think anyone in my place would look for a way out and given the circumstances this is one of the few that I have left.

I'm very grateful to all the people who want and wish to participate without any duty or commitment. I would also greatly appreciate all those who can share this campaign, without having to contribute anything. Any help is welcome. With one click you can reach a lot of disinterested people who can collaborate.

The objective of this campaign will cover the following expenses:

- Payment of the college fees (€ 890) against the possible denial of the MEC Scholarship.
- Rent payment in Gandía from September to January (€ 1,140)
