Heidi's Cancer Recovery Fund

Heidi Hoffecker, a single mom living in Central Vermont with her two kids (River, 12 and Sierra, 10), who has a big heart and a loving spirit, was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in October 2015.  Until then, she ran Heidi’s Playschool, a Waldorf-inspired home care program for pre-schoolers. (She had previously worked as a kindergarten teacher at Wellspring Waldorf School in Tunbridge, Vermont, which closed in 2013.) Heidi informed her playschool families of her illness.  By early November, her treatment needs required the intermittent closing of her school often enough that the families needed to find consistent care elsewhere. 

     In November she had two surgeries, during December she will have had a number of diagnostic tests and some pre-chemo dental appointments, and from January through August she will be receiving chemotherapy (two days a week -- bi-weekly, then weekly -- for 6 months) and then radiation (Monday through Friday for 7 weeks).

     During these months of treatment, she will have no income and will have considerable medical expenses not covered by her insurance.

     Her mom has been pitching in financially, but we are now looking to family, friends and others who have an interest in helping Heidi and her children through this time.
