Quentin's Battle Against Brain Cancer: A Fight for Hope
Just over five years ago, Quentin received the devastating news of his brain cancer diagnosis. Since then, he has shown tremendous courage in the face of countless cancer treatments, relapses, and even a second cancer. Unfortunately, Quentin's cancer is aggressive and fast-growing. His most recent scan revealed further growth throughout his brain.
Recently, the medical team at Children's Hospital convened with other neurology specialists to review Quentin's scans. They observed that the changes in different regions suggest that these growths are a progression of the medulloblastoma cancer. These growths have remained confined and have not spread in the typical manner until now.
The current treatment plan for Quentin has been somewhat effective in slowing the cancer's progression. However, it is evident that the cancer is multiplying at a faster rate as the affected areas expand. The chemotherapy, once a strong defense, is gradually losing its effectiveness. Exhausting all available options for treatment in Minnesota, Quentin's family remains determined to explore alternative possibilities.
Their search has led them to a pediatric immunotherapy cancer treatment trial in Georgia. This trial offers hope for children like Quentin who are battling medulloblastoma. While it is not a guaranteed solution and may not work for every child, there have been cases where it has significantly extended lives and even cured some individuals.
Quentin's Loving Support System
Throughout this difficult journey, Quentin is supported by his loving parents, Jonathan and Jessica, along with his sister Lola. Jonathan is a music teacher in the Mankato Schools while Jessica cares for Quentin’s and Lola’s needs and education.
