Quill (Renee Tomala)

Hi friends,
On December 10th, Renee and Quill were in the field with friends when Quill suffered an accident while doing what he loves—hunting birds with his mom, Renee. He fell from the top of a very steep creek bank. We immediately sought help at a vet in Hettinger, then had to transfer him to a 24 hour vet in Rapid City. He is currently at a vet in Bismarck with plans to move again to Fargo or MSP when he’s stable enough for more advanced treatment. His injuries are pretty extensive, including internal damage and a broken leg. There are a lot of unknowns right now with his recovery chances and next steps. He is not fully out of the woods yet, but we are holding out hope that he will recover.
Treatment to date has already added up quickly. The target amount would cover what the expenses have been so far, which will hopefully give Renee and family the ability to worry a little less about the path forward from this point.
If you’re lucky enough to know Renee, you know how much she hates the thought of asking anyone for help. But accidents and emergencies happen and I know the people who love her and Quill would jump at the chance to ease some of the burdens they are going through.
