Quilting Machine for Local Artist

Donation protected
Hi! My name is David L. and I am local artist and quilter in Chapel Hill, NC. When I moved to Chapel Hill, I was experiencing homelessness, and I was staying at the IFC Shelter for over a year. During that time, I started a quilting club to teach community members how to quilt and to make quilts for people experiencing homelessness. I started the quilting club to give back to my community after they helped uplift me out of homelessness. I am also active in my community. I volunteer with the Jackson Center, the Community Empowerment Fund, and other community organizations.

I have continued teaching these quilting classes for the past five years to students, long-term residents, and people experiencing homelessness. I have built really deep relationships with my quilting students and been able to share my gifts with them.

I have been quilting by hand for years, but now arthritis has made this more difficult. Because of this arthritis, I am unable to quilt by hand anymore. I need a long-arm quilting machine to be able to finish quilts I have started and to create new ones. These quilts will be for my community, friends, and neighbors.

I love quilting and sharing my art and my talent with others. If you would like, please donate and bless me so I can pass this on to others.

With much love and passion,
David L.
