Quinn's STEM Leadership Opportunity

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Quinn Bevan, and I am a 7th grader at Bonneville Jr. High in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been nominated to represent my school and community at National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF ) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Villanova University in July 2023. My 4th-grade teacher, Mrs. Karen Oliver, originally nominated me for this elite leadership opportunity, and I attended my first NYLF Stem program in LA in 2021. I was invited back to attend the advanced Stem program at UC Berkeley in July 2022. My previous tuition and travel were covered between my parents and extended family; however, now I have graduated to an Alumni status, the cost has tripled, and I am seeking help to fund my attendance.

By attending NYLF, I will join other motivated students from around the country for an experiential Leadership/Career Exploration program. I have enclosed a sample of our itinerary for your review.

As you can see, this will be a powerful experience to enable me to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be my future colleagues. Attending NYLF will allow me to further my interest in Engineering and reach my career goals of becoming an Architect and owning an Architectural Firm.

Academically, I have been in the top 10% of my student body in academics and the top 10% of my student body in citizenship since the 6th grade. I maintain a 3.89/A GPA and have maintained Honor Roll status my entire academic career thus far. I am 1 of 7 students (547 total student body) nominated for my current Peer Leadership class, and I plan to run for student government next year. I have received numerous Student of the Month awards for various strengths, including “bravery,” “being respectful,” and being an overall leader amongst my peers. I also love playing chess, football, and basketball and am learning to speak Spanish.

Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and could not participate for lack of funds–that is why I am asking for your help. My participation in the program depends on whether I can raise $5000 in sponsorships. I am investing every dollar I can of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this unique experience, and I am also taking on extra jobs to raise the funds I need. In addition, through my family, friends, and neighbors, I have already raised $500. I also received a $300 donation from a local law firm. That leaves me with a balance of ($4200), and I hope you will consider assisting me with all or some of these costs. My total attendance expenses include $3500 for my program tuition, $1000 for my transportation costs, and $500 in incidentals. My tuition costs are split into monthly installments of $500 beginning December 15, 2022, and must be paid in full by June 30, 2023.

Thank you kindly for considering assisting me with my fundraising efforts.

Sincerely,
Quinn Jamison Bevan
