Vincenzo LaPilusa of Sparta, is working on his Eagle Project. Eagle rank is the highest rank that a Boy Scout can attain. Eagle projects are designed for the candidate Scout to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project that benefits of his community. It gives the Scout an opportunity to “plan, develop, and give leadership to others.” Vincenzo’s Eagle Project has decided to put all his efforts into gathering needed items that homeless or people in transition need. Family Promise of Sussex County is a non-profit organization which offers programs to homeless individuals and families, and at-risk individuals in Sussex County. They offer many programs, one of which is called an Emergency Shelter Program. The program offers lodging, short-term shelter support, meals and case management services. While people are moving from church to church, they need basic items to help them through - the duffel bag itself, sheet set, blanket, towel, socks, pillow, toiletries, and even a toy for a child. Vincenzo’s goal is to raise enough money to build at least 50 duffel bags to accommodate people who are in need. If possible, 100 duffel bags will be made too!
