Randall for Campaign Zero!

This is my boyfriend Randall. On May 30th, he was hit in the head by a rubber bullet shot by a police officer at the Black Lives Matters protest. He spent 3 days in the ICU with a 3-type brain hemorrhage. He was protesting *the MURDER of GEORGE FLOYD* peacefully, and was leaving, when he was hit with the rubber bullet meant for someone the officer was having a verbal altercation with (not that it matters, but for context he was walking by and had not been engaged with any officers).

I want this image burned into your brains. I want your knees to go weak and for you to turn away and for it to make you queasy. This is 6 days after he was hit in the head with a rubber bullet. 6 days after he suffered a “3-type” brain hemorrhage.  This is the fear blacks have to live with every second of every day.

We obviously can’t be there protesting in person with you all, but want to make sure what happened to him has some sort of an impact – not just on his brain. We want to support how we can. And since so many of you asked how you could help, we thought we would take you up on that offer and use Randall’s story to help raise some money.

Randall is lucky, but also privileged, unlike the countless black lives who have been LOST strictly because of their skin color like Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Amadou Diallo, Philando Castile, and Trayvon Martin.

Campaign Zero is an organization that fights to enact data driven polices proven to reduce police violence. They just launched an “8 Can’t Wait” campaign that puts pressure on Mayors to adopt 8 use of force policy changes in their police departments that are proven to decrease police violence by up to 72% and kill a significantly lower amount of people. What happened to Randall was terrifying but watching this movement and the changes coming from it has been completely overwhelming in the best possible way.  It’s not for nothing. We are being listened too.

 We know it’s a pandemic, and things are REAL rough right now, but if you could spare a few dollars in donating to Campaign Zero, and thus keep Randall actively participating in this revolution while he is recovering from his brain hemorrhage, we would be so beyond grateful – which at this point I didn’t even think was possible.
