This fundraiser is on the behalf of former Harlem Globetrotter, Larry "Shorty" Coleman. Shorty's role with the Globetrotters was a dribbler from 1986-1992. He has traveled to more than 100 countries entertaining crowds all over the world. He has performed for an audience of 100,000 in South America to an audience of one for the Pope at the Vatican. Shorty has also performed for the Queen of England, Kings of Africa and Mother Teresa among other notable dignitaries.

After his years with the Globetrotters, Shorty became an original member of the Harlem Legends Basketball Entertainers. The Harlem Legends are a group of former Globetrotters and other professional athletes who perform at over 100 schools each year helping schools and organizations with their fundraising efforts. Shorty has been performing with the Harlem Legends for the past 27 years.

Shorty has been a world class athlete well into his late 50's, competing against basketball players he is twice as old as. Shorty has that unique ability that few have. He is an extraordinary athlete. On August 18, 2020, due to an infection, Shorty's leg had to be amputated above the knee, bringing his basketball career to an end. Shorty has helped to raise thousands of dollars for schools and organizations throughout his long career. Now he needs your help. Shorty has no income. He has only made a living playing basketball for his entire adult life. he needs money for basic living expenses and for a quality prosthetic leg. He will need money to build a ramp to have access to his home. He also wants a custom van so that he can have transportation.
