"Liver 4 Kasen" I Need Your Support...

My name is Mitayah Donerlson, the mother of  3 month old Kasen …. And here is his story! My name is Kasen Kyrie, I was born on January 14, 2020. Following my birth, I began my journey by spending my first three (3) days of life in the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit). I was diagnosed with a severe case of Jaundice and Respiratory Breathing complications. Within a week of being cleared, discharge from the hospital, and completing my initial visit with my PCP (Primary Care Physician), mommy realize that my symptoms weren’t getting better. I continued to experiences pale clay-base stool, dark urine, yellowish eyes, and I was unable to maintain my weight, which resulted in rapid weight loss. Mommy continually reported her concerns regarding my symptoms to my PCP and my treatment team. My PCP and treatment team told my mom, that my eyes would eventually clear up, my pale clay base stool was normal, and as long as I continued to produce bowel movement my bilirubin levels would decrease and my Jaundice would go away. But I wasn’t getting better…. at the age of 2 months, and an unplanned hospital trip; I was diagnosed with a rare Liver Disease known as Biliary Atresia. Biliary Atresia is a condition in infants in which the bile ducts outside and inside the liver are scarred and blocked. The damage leads to scarring, loss of liver tissue and function, and cirrhosis. On March 17th, I underwent a surgical procedure known as Kasai where they removed, created, and restructured my bile ducts to flow from the liver into the intestine. Following the procedure, I stayed in the hospital for ten (10) days towards my recovery. I had hope that my new bile duct structure would make me better. On April 2,2020, I was admitted back in the hospital, where I was told the surgery wasn’t successful. Now, I need a Liver Transplant. My family and I are asking for your help. The funds raised for me, will solely be utilized for the coordination of my treatment including but not limited to my health and wellbeing, pre and post-surgical procedures, medical expenses, traveling expenses to &from designated liver transplant center(s), boarding accommodations, recovery expenses and much more.
