HELP PORT CREDIT SMALL BUSINESSES

WHY?
Imagine, if you will, sitting at the dinner table every night with the people you cherish most in the world and you no longer have the encouraging words they so desperately need to hear. Your self esteem has been ravaged to a new low because the dreams that you have worked so hard for are about to vanish into thin air. Your sacrifices and your family’s sacrifices have been for naught. These set backs have not been for lack of hard work or perseverance, they are because of a PANDEMIC which was totally out of your control.
These aren’t just businesses anymore! There are families behind every one of them, there are employees with families and it is a heart wrenching feeling not being able to provide for them.
Can anyone relate? I am sure a lot of us can relate to having these feelings at one time in our lives. No matter what your plight is in life, there is always someone who needs that little gesture from you in their time of need. This is the mantra that quite a few of these businesses, even now, follow not knowing what their future holds but they still ‘give back’.
THEIR NEED IS NOW! We are not prepared to give up on this endeavor and are determined to reach our goal.
The businesses of Port Credit will take months if not years to recuperate from this past year, that is for the ones that make it. Please help us help all of them to survive. Let’s show them that their community cares.
With this fund we want to help:
· The small independent bricks & mortar businesses in the Port Credit area proper (Maple Ave. in the west to Beechwood Ave. in the east). Home based businesses do not qualify.
· All non-essential businesses who have been impacted by the shutdowns. Professional and Service businesses do not qualify.
· Restaurants who have been forced to close in-dining capacity and patios. Fast food establishments whose main business is takeout or delivery do not qualify.
· Hair salons, nail salons, barber shops.
· We will look at each request that does not fit into these categories if the need is there.
How to access funds:
· Each business owner is contacted through email, mailbox or in person with instructions to requesting funds and how to request said funds.
· A separate email has been created for these requests and responses sent to business owners.
· At no time will any request for financial information be made by the GoFundMe team.
· All businesses will share equally in the funds collected.
· Some businesses were difficult to obtain information or get information to, however, now that we have the support of the Port Credit BIA, a notice will go out in their next newsletter to assure we did not miss anyone.
