Mission Malawi 2024: Make a Lasting Impact in Rural Malawi

Donation protected
This July, I, along with a group of dedicated A level students from Cardinal Newman School in Coventry are joining the St. Francis Malawi Trust and the Kenelm Youth Trust on a Mission trip to Malawi to make a real difference in the school communities of Bunda, Malawi.
St. Francis Malawi Trust Charity No: 1148399
Kenelm Youth Trust Charity No: 1144209

Bunda School, St Mathews school and St Harrys school are all located in the Bunda region where 100 plus children can be crammed into a single classroom, learning from a single, overworked teacher with very limited resources. This is the reality in rural Malawi, where many children face a daily struggle for education and necessities.

Our mission is to directly support and improve the children of Bunda’s education, here's how your support can change lives...

Empowering Schools:
• Reduced Class Sizes: We'll be teaching lessons and running activities at Bunda, St. Matthew's, and St. Harry's schools, giving overwhelmed teachers a much-needed break. We aim to create an engaging learning environment for students using resources brought from home.
• Improved Health & Well-being: We'll identify children needing medical treatment, organise transport and visits to the local Health Centre (Kasina Health Centre), and fund their treatment. Essential hygiene products and clothing will also be distributed to the students in need.
• Fighting Malnutrition: We'll reintroduce feeding programs in all 3 schools that can be maintained after we leave, providing nutritious meals to combat malnutrition and fuel young minds.
• Sustainable Future: Partnering with local villages in a national park, we'll buy and help plant maize crops specifically chosen to withstand Malawi's weather, ensuring the feeding program can continue long after we leave.

Supporting Kasina Health Centre:
Our focus at Kasina Health Centre will be on women's health and well-being, particularly supporting mothers and newborns. We'll be assisting the Medical Missionaries of Mary by:
• Providing vital medical equipment: This will directly enhance the Centre’s ability to care for the community's most vulnerable members.
• Donating essential supplies: We'll bring much-needed clothing, sanitary products, and baby products to directly benefit mothers and their children.
• Helping with the daily running of the clinic: We'll lend a hand to ensure the smooth operation of Kasina Health Centre and its vital services.

How You Can Be a Hero:
Financial Donations: Every penny counts! £1595 covers the cost of one team member's flights, accommodation, and travel within Malawi. We are fundraising to buy essential medications, maize to buy and plant, funding feeding programs, purchasing resources for local schools, acquiring vital supplies for mothers and babies at Kasina Health Centre, and distributing the Centre’s resources.

Physical Donations: Donate baby and children's clothes, slightly used footwear, bars of soap, women's sanitary products, sealed syringes (no needles), vegetable seeds, educational supplies. These items will directly benefit the communities we serve.

Together, we can create a brighter future for the children and mothers of Malawi. Donate today and be a part of something truly extraordinary!

We really appreciate any support you may be able to offer.
