Matilda Mais TGA journey

Hi my name is Kirsten I am fundraising to help my best friend and her baby girl. At 20 weeks pregnant loren found out her unborn baby had a heart condition called transposition of the great arteries and would need open heart surgery at the beginning of life. Matilda Mai was born at Liverpool women’s hospital and then transferred to alder hey children’s hospital at 30 minutes old. She had her first procedure in the first few hours of reaching alder hey and then at 12 days old underwent a 9 and a half hour open heart surgery to have her arteries switched. In Matilda’s 15 days of life she hasn’t managed to be of the ventilator for longer then 12 hours and loren has only held her baby girl twice in 15 days. Although loren was aware that her baby was going to be poorly no one can prepare a parent for this living nightmare. Loren has two other children she’s had to leave in Bolton whilst she’s moved into the Ronald McDonald house to be by matildas bed said everyday. I just wanted to make this page to raise some funds to help her through this hard time to contribute towards living cost, travelling cost and towards her other two children as any parent can imagine being away from your kids on the run up to christmas is hard enough.
