RAGBRAI Community Fund

It’s here - RAGBRAI’s 50th anniversary. When a few friends got together for a casual bike ride across Iowa in 1973, no one imagined that a tradition would be born, let alone that the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa would become the longest, largest and oldest recreational bicycle touring event in the world.
RAGBRAI is only possible because of the towns across Iowa that open their doors and businesses and send volunteers to serve the ride. This fund was created to say thank you to the cities and towns across Iowa that make RAGBRAI possible.
Donations to this fund will support nonprofit organizations that have been recommended by the 8 host communities along the route that are positively serving their community. GoFundMe.org verifies and then approves all recommended organizations to ensure your donation is safe and distributes grants to each nonprofit after the ride.
This means your donation to this centralized fundraiser is disbursed to support each host community.
Additionally, the RAGBRAI organization has pledged a donation of $120,000 to this fund to be split among each host community’s nonprofit recommendation AND to Dream Team Des Moines. But we hope that you can show your gratitude to these towns by donating to this fund too, and sharing with your friends and family who love RAGBRAI. Help us reach our goal of raising $450,000 in this fund to give back to these communities.
Thank you in advance for helping to make this 50th anniversary the most special and generous ride yet.
More about the overnight host towns:
Each year, eight Iowa communities along the RAGBRAI route serve as “host” communities for overnight stays. RAGBRAI is a guest in these communities, and the people of Iowa make the ride special for its participants. Hosts across the state generously open up their towns and communities so that all participants have a safe and comfortable place to rest up for their journey the following day. Donations to this fund will be equitably distributed by GoFundMe.org to each town’s recommended nonprofit(s).
