In 2007 Nicodemus Educational Camps had its first Agriculture Camp for underrepresented and/or low-income youth. Veryl Switzer a Nicodemus native, former K-State football and administrative great, helped JohnElla Holmes lay the foundation for an agriculture camp for youth. With the assistance of K-State's college of Agriculture and the Kansas Black Farmers Association, the camp provides a two-day pre-college experience on the campus and three days of experiential learning in Nicodemus where the attendees learn firsthand about farming, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and much more. NCAA Hall of Fame Coach Bill Snyder has supported the camp since 2009!
The demand for the camp has grown and this year we are going from one camp to four camps to accommodate the youth! Each year we struggle to provide loding in Historic National Park Nicodemus, KS. The funds will be used to build a bunking dorm for the Agriculture Camp campers!
