Support Skylynn's Fight Against POTS
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Tabby and I am Skylynn's aunt and her mother's best friend. I am reaching out on behalf of my niece Skylynn, who is battling with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) also known as aka "allergic to gravity". Sky's condition has made it extremely difficult for her to carry out simple daily tasks that most of us take for granted. POTS is a chronic illness that affects the autonomic nervous system, leading to symptoms like dizziness, fainting (many times a day at times), and an increased heart rate when moving from a lying down to a standing position. Skylynn's blood runs to her feet but unfortunately does not come back up to her brain in which then sends a signal to her body to pass out and lay flat so the blood can flow back to her brain. Skylynn at times may be passed out from 2-18 minutes or more at any time. Sky often struggles with mobility and feeling unwell which has affected her going to school and her everyday quality of life severely.
Sky's doctors have recommended that she get a service dog to assist her with various tasks and provide emotional support as she learns to transition through this new way of life at 14 years old. A service dog would greatly improve Sky's independence and help her navigate everyday challenges with more ease, along with giving her mother comfort in Skylynn's safety and she will be able to return to work consistently not having to worry so much about Sky's safety. However, the cost of obtaining and training a service dog is substantial, and Sky and her mother could use some financial support to make this possible.
Additionally, the medical bills associated with managing POTS have been overwhelming for Skylynn's mother, Veronica. She has emptied her savings, can only work part time in her business which is suffering, while trying to stay afloat with three teens. She requires regular doctor visits, medications, and specialized treatments and traveling to Austin, TX which her insurance does not pay for to keep her symptoms under control. Despite her best efforts, the financial strain of her medical expenses has taken a toll on Veronica and she is desperately needing some help from all of us.
We are reaching out to our family, friends and community asking for help in raising funds to support Sky and Veronica as they transition into Skylynn's journey towards better health and quality of life. Your contributions will go towards covering the costs of getting a service dog and alleviating the burden of medical bills for Sky.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Sky's life. Your generosity will not only help her obtain a service dog to improve her daily functioning but also give Veronica the financial relief she desperately needs to focus on her daughter's health and well-being. If you feel the need to donate directly to the organization in which will be providing Skylynn with Praline, please see below for Venmo information.
Let's come together to support Sky in her fight against POTS and show her that she is not alone in this challenging journey. Your kindness and compassion can make a world of difference for Sky, bringing light and hope into her life during these difficult times.
Thank you for taking the time to read Sky's story and for considering making a donation to support her cause. Please share this campaign with your friends and family to help spread the word and reach our fundraising goal.
Together, we can make a positive impact in Skylynn's life and help her navigate through the hurdles of POTS with strength and resilience.
Thank you for your support.
