Support Stefanie through Law School

This week I read my friend Stefanie's story:

http://musingsofstef.blogspot.com/2016/02/i-was-raped-at-baylor-and-this-is-my_4.html

Her story is an outrage to me of injustice that words cannot articulate. I hurt because she is my sister in Christ, she is my family.  And because I know her, believe her, and care for her I want to not just stand by and think “Oh how awful for her;” I want to DO something! I want her story to be made known that things would change for many others in the future! And it kills me that the evil of what has been done to her continues to wrack such pain in her life:

“Everything hurts - even the roots of my hair. I really want someone to take this load off of me for a while so I can rest, but the load is invisible to everyone else. And it gets worse when even little traumas happen. That is what I hate the most. That I spend nights sitting in a bathroom convulsing.”

I want to be a part of easing that pain- of caring for her after an indescribable atrocity. My God is love and my God cares for the weak and powerless- those that don’t have a voice. What does He say true religion is? That we care for the orphan and the widow (James 1:27). I have no doubt that Stefanie will ALWAYS be an advocate for the orphan and the widow, those that are poor and powerless, who are not heard, and who do not have a voice.  And I for one want to be a part of that. I want to see healing for Stefanie and I want to help see her through law school that she would be empowered to do exactly this. Read her story. Do you hear her hurt? Do you hear her stress and her pain? Brothers and Sisters, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth (1 John 3:18).

I have talked with Stefanie about her situation and set the goal high as to how to help her.  Her school bills look something like this: a projected $200,000 for law school and another $40,000 she already owes from undergrad.   Even though Stefanie lives frugally, she is most concerned about just making it through the summer, paying for her car, and living expenses during law school.  I also would like to see help for her to continue seeing a counselor.  So this money would go towards all of these- easing debt, making living possible during school, and helping with counseling.  And know this wasn’t Stefanie’s idea; I believe this is God’s idea that He graciously put in my heart. Let’s shower her with love, kindness, and get this lady up and running in Law School!  I sure as heck want people like her in our justice system!!!  Amen?
