Andrew Morrissey is a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a friend to everyone he meets.  On Sunday, August 6, he suffered a tragic accident while vacationing with friends and family at the beach.  The accident left him with two cervical fractures.  He has undergone extensive surgery to stabilize his spine and is currently recovering at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, NC.

Drew's recovery is going to be a long road.  The medical costs have already begun piling up.  These include his transfer and treatment in Emerald Isle as well as the around-the-clock care that he is currently receiving in the Surgical ICU. We do not know the long-term prognosis, but we know there will be rehab, travel to/from treatments, lifestyle adjustment costs and many other unforeseen bills.  At the same time, life goes on all around the Morrissey family.  There will be mortgages to pay, meals to cook and softball games to play.

Here are a couple things we do know:
Drew is one of the strongest people we've ever met. (He once confidently told me he could wrestle an alligator.) He is in the fight of his life and we are confident he will put all of his strength and resilience into his recovery.

Drew is surrounded by a community of friends and family that love him.  This has been so evident in all of the people who have reached out with prayers, well wishes, cards and hugs.  #DrewStrong is all over social media, in front yards and on t-shirts.
