Hi, my name is Kimberly Shaw, also known as Teacher Kim and I am reaching out on behalf of the Key Peninsula Cooperative Preschool. We are a nonprofit preschool that has operated on the Key Peninsula in Washington State for almost 40 years. The Key Peninsula is a childcare desert with hundreds of families and children impacted by a lack of childcare options. We have been working on adding childcare to our program on the Key Peninsula for the past year and a half. We have encountered many obstacles (you can read about them in the news article above if you are curious). Still, we were hit with our most significant obstacle this week. Our grant provider has lost their funding source, and they will not be able to fulfill the financial support they have promised us for several months. This hurdle might be the final straw that "breaks the camel's back." Still, we have decided to try one last ditch effort to reach out to our community on the KP and our many family members and friends to see if we can raise enough funds to help us get by. We need funds to open our planned outdoor nature-based childcare, summer camp, and cooperative preschool. All funds raised will go towards buying the materials we need to create a forest classroom, providing scholarships for kiddos to attend our summer camp, and helping us re-open our cooperative preschool in the fall.
