Help Tiffany fight breast cancer

 

Just 5 short weeks ago on September 10th my sister, aka "sissy", and as you all know her, Tiffany Gunther was given the harrowing diagnosis of having Stage 3 IDC Breast Cancer. It came as a blow. Since that time it has been a whirlwind of additional testing, biopsies, and meetings with the Oncology team. Tiff's Doctors have put together a plan that includes 12 weeks of Chemo and then 6 weeks later she will undergo surgery on her breast/s. After that time she will have Radiation every day for 4-6 weeks, as well as the additional HP Chemo treatments. Tiffany was tested and was positive for the BRCA gene and the HER2 score is Positive 3+ which means it's more aggressive, however the HR is Positive. She has two lumps in her right breast measuring 2.25cm in length (combined). Tiff had a full body MRI and an additional biopsy done just before starting her first round of Chemo on October 6th. After receiving the results from those tests it shows that the cancer is spreading to her lymph nodes. Tiff will need to have her Taxall Chemo swapped out for a more aggressive form. As many of you who know Tiffany well, know that she has been out of work since July of 2020 due to Covid-19's impact on the airline industry. She has been trying relentlessly to find employment since then and just recently got offered a part time position working from home. However this income alone can barely cover the cost of her rent. With Tiff starting the more aggressive Chemo in November she won't be able to work, physically. She had hoped to start her second job, but unfortunately her Oncology team can not consider her physically capable of completing the duties required in her job description. Both my dad, mom, and I are taking time to go to Boston to help Tiff with going to appointments/treatments and taking care of her at home. The chemo is already taking it’s toll on her body. We’re asking for any help you can give financially to put towards the dreaded medical bills and essential expenses needed covered during this devastating period. Without the ability to work and still needing to plan for surgery to try and remove the remaining cancer, we appreciate your kindness and help. I’ll be honest, the selfish side of me wishes she was here with us in Arizona so it would be easier for us to be there for her, but the most important thing right now is that Tiffany has the best Cancer Care team possible and Mass General is exactly that. With their state of the art facilities and world renowned physicians she has everything at her fingertips. This is her journey and we are so very thankful to everyone, from the west coast all the way to the east coast. We appreciate your love, prayers and support. It means so much more than you know!
