Help for single mother and her son
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Laura, and together with Julie, we are reaching out to our community to help Evelia and her 13-year-old son, who lost everything. The two will have to start from scratch as they recover from the devastation of this fire.
Julie has written a bit about the family and their situation:
On March 25, 2022, a two-alarm fire was reported in the 2300 block of Sycamore Drive east of Auto Center Drive in Antioch, which destroyed as many as ten units. Twenty-one adults and 12 children were displaced after the fire, and one of those families is my dear friend, Evelia and her son Arturo.
Evelia lost everything from the devastating fire, and as a single mom, she is doing the best she can to provide for herself and her son during this difficult time.
I met Evelia and her son Arturo back in 2016 when they both came to Loaves & Fishes dining room in Pittsburg to have lunch. Evelia returned the following day inquiring about volunteering her time during her days off. Evelia has been a long-time Loaves & Fishes volunteer who enjoys preparing fresh green salads, fresh fruits, and serving hot meals for the clients. She also assists as a translator for Spanish-speaking clients when needed. Evelia also brings her son Arturo to volunteer during school break, teaching him how he can serve the community and people in need. Evelia is a very compassionate individual and enjoys helping others. I hope and pray we can return the same compassion and support Evelia during this trying time.
With your generous donations, we can all help Evelia build a new beginning for herself and her son, Arturo.
Thank you for your kindness! God Bless all!
Funds will be used to help refurnish an apartment, restock their closet, and replenish their pantry.
