The Norris family

Hi, my name is Jessica and I am good friends with Mikayla and Justin Norris. Mikayla is a stay at home mom to Mason (11) and Maya (5) while Justin works very hard to provide for his family. To know this sweet family is to love them!

In December 2021, Mikayla and Justin found out they were pregnant! To much of their surprise since doctors told them it would be difficult to have another child. Not long after they found out it was twins! Of course they were so excited and so very thankful! Mikayla’s pregnancy was extremely difficult and hard on her with many complications. On Thursday July 7th her high risk doctor told them it would be best for her to go to Vanderbilt as soon as possible. Baby boy and Mikayla both were not doing very well at all. Baby boy had a heart condition and both mama and baby boy were covered in fluid. They went straight home and packed up, brought their daughter Maya to me, and headed to Vanderbilt. The next morning they were in doctors appointments all day meeting with every doctor that was included in their care. Later that evening the NICU team came in and gave them the news that baby boy would most likely not make it. He had so much fluid in his little body and around his heart and lungs and both mama and baby boy were in possible heart failure and they needed to deliver immediately. Within 30 minutes they delivered baby girl, who came out screaming and crying and doing wonderful! Baby boy came out next and to their surprise he didn’t have quite as much fluid on him as they thought. As of now, he doesn’t need heart surgery but has a long road ahead of him. They are predicting baby girl will be in NICU for 2 weeks and baby boy possibly 8 weeks. They are working on possibly trying to get them housing to stay at Vanderbilt with their babies. We are praying the case worker will be able to get something worked out for them!

I am keeping their daughter Maya for them while they are gone but I still felt like I needed to do something else for them! So, with Mikayla’s permission I started this account to help them with food, bills while Justin isn’t able to work, possible housing, gas, and anything else they were needing for the babies.
