Baby Carson’s Journey

Carson Malone was born on April 16th, 2022 (10 weeks early). He weighed 2lb 14oz and stayed in the NICU in Iowa City. After 60 days he finally went home June 15th.

Fast forward to June 29th Cassie found him not breathing in his crib and Justin preformed CPR on him. Carson was then lifeflighted back to the University. They ran lots of tests with everything coming back normal and he was positive for Rhinovirus (common cold). He was discharged on July 4th. On July 13th Cassie found him not breathing again and had to preform CPR again. He was lifeflighted again for the 3rd time. He still has the virus and waiting on answers to why he is having these apnea spells (where he just stops breathing).

Cassie and her husband, Justin have been staying in the hospital while staying in Iowa City with Carson. They travel back frequently to see their other son, Alex as well. Cassie is also scheduled to return to work soon; but will more than likely have to take more unpaid time off.

Carson will have several follow up appointments and he will be able to leave the hospital, as well as a surgery he will have to have.

I wanted to try and raise some money for them to help with all the medical expenses as well as their travel, gas, and food while there. They are such a loving family and have the biggest hearts. Anything can help, especially prayers.
