tyler’s top surgery

hey you! my name is tyler and i’m 21 years old. as you can see, i am currently looking to raise some money to put towards a double mastectomy.

i am a transgender man and have been identifying as male since the age of 14. i have been on hormone replacement therapy (testosterone) for over 4 years now, and whilst that has been super beneficial for me, i still wouldn’t say i feel entirely comfortable in my own skin. at the moment, i am unable to work due to medical reasons. despite that i’m also a full-time student that lives out of home. obviously i have lots of other bills to worry about, on top of the extra expenses that come from dealing with health issues. these circumstances have caused saving up to be a huge struggle for me - it would be crazy to even consider getting top surgery right now without some financial assistance.

plus, with the recent changes regarding transgender health care, i highly doubt this procedure has the possibility to be covered under insurance any time soon.

if you know me, you’ll know that i have attempted a gofundme in the past for this same reason. i only raised a very small amount of money with that initiative, and after some time my page was taken down due to inactivity. i had the same problem when trying to save up money for oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) prior to medically transitioning. i was wanting this procedure done because sadly taking testosterone usually has negative impacts on fertility. i received some donations but they barely put a dent in the overall cost, and due to insufficient funds i eventually had to make the decision to put my wellbeing first. this ultimately meant accepting the fact that i would no longer be capable of having biological children in the future.

i wish i could have that same perspective regarding my physical body, but unfortunately dysphoria just doesn’t work that way.

i’m sure we can all agree that the cost of living is absolutely insane right now, so please don’t feel pressured to make any kind of donation. i’m creating this page in the hopes that those who feel financially comfortable might be generous enough to me help out. literally anything would help - my goal of $5000 isn’t even half of what i need for top surgery, but it sure is better than nothing.

tl;dr - i’m transgender, chronically ill and currently unemployed. i really need gender reassignment surgery but right now i’m just too poor. please contribute to my lifelong happiness if you can! i’ll be eternally grateful.
