Help Yellow Bike Bounce Back from Burglary

To fellow cyclists and other Yellow Bike supporters,

On May 5/6, 2024 we had a break-in at Yellow Bike.

About 20 bikes were stolen from our sales rack. The thieves also took our cash box. Together, with damaged doors, we estimate our losses at about $10,000.

We are reaching out for your support to help us recover from the losses and to cover the costs of installing security systems that will lower the risk of such incidents happening in the future. We estimate the cost at an additional $5,000.

We would also welcome any bike mechanics who are willing to dedicate their time to help us repair more bikes.

Even though the bikes that were stolen were from our sale rack, the burglary will impact our donation program. 86% of our income that covers the running costs of our organization comes from selling bikes and parts. The fewer bikes we sell, the fewer bikes we are able to secure towards our donation program. For many members of our community the bicycles we provide are the only means of transportation they have.

May is Bike Month. Let’s come together for the community members that rely on us for transportation.
