Hello friends,
My name is Barbara Ssempa, and I am a professional nurse currently living in the USA. I am also one of the directors of Bulamu Access Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving health and empowering pregnant women and teenagers in Uganda.
On May 12th, 2025, in celebration of International Mothers’s Day, we are organizing a CoMaH (Community Maternal Health) Project.
Over 300 pregnant women will be tested for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, syphilis, and malaria as part of the Community Maternal Health Project. To assist expectant moms in creating a secure environment for their infants, delivery kits ( a package of cotton, gauze, gloves, diapers, soap, cord clamps, surgical blades etc) will also be given to them.
The foundation requires 7,000 dollars to operate this event, which will cover medication, testing materials, medical items, doctors and nurses.
Since we are unable to do this task on our own, we are reaching out to different networks for assistance in bringing this project to fruition. You will help to save lives and significantly impact the lives of the infants and women we will reach.
Maternal health in Uganda reveals significant challenges, with a maternal mortality rate of approximately 336 deaths per 100,000 live births. Access to family planning remains low, with a contraceptive prevalence and postnatal care is limited, with only about 40% of women receiving follow-up care after childbirth.
Together, we can empower pregnant women with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthier lives.
Best regards!
