Hello,
We are reaching out to friends and family to please help and donate to "Thor's Medical Fund". Thor is our precious baby kitty. On September 27th he was attacked (we believe by a coyote but we’re honestly not sure). We found him on our porch crying out and covered in blood. We had to take him to a 24 hour Emergency Veterinary Hospital. We arrived to the hospital around 6am, they came out to the car to get Thor (we weren't even allowed to go in with him). Thor had to undergo blood work, anesthesia and sedation so they could assess the damage AND they wanted a deposit before they would even start anything. We were just praying that he would be okay.
Thor was born on February 14th 2021 and is a healthy, loving, goofy, playful, curious kitty and ALWAYS enjoys cuddles. He especially loves playing and cuddling with his best friend, our dog Sī Liè. They are our babies.
Thor was diagnosed with Degloved skin tissue from the jaw, his skull X-rays relayed left mandibular symphyseal, a fractured jaw and Slab fracture. He needed surgery to wire his jaw, and stitch his lip/chin back to his face and was going to need a skin graft. Thors chest X-rays he showed mild atelectasis of the right cranial and middle lung lobes, increased patchy interstitial pattern in caudodorsal lung fields ,consistent with pulmonary contusions. (In other words, his lungs were significantly bruised making it difficult to breathe comfortably or possibility of collapse). Thor has to be fed and given meds for pain and nerve damage repair every 8 to 12 hours through a feeding tube in his neck. He also has a catheter and a fentanyl patch for his immense pain. When we could finally bring Thor home they informed us that they needed a payment of $5700 before he could be released to us!! Taking care of Thor is a scary and tiring process but we love him and he is worth it. He had to be watched around the clock for a few days and therefore I also had to take some time off work. With more upcoming checkups, surgeries and procedures to have his feeding tube removed, as well as the wires from his jaw removed, dental work, plus checkups we are looking at an additional $2000 to $3500. We do not know exactly how many more surgeries he will need in the future. The cost has turned into WAY MORE than expected and added some great debt to our finances.
This was a scary and emotional time for all of us. He may not ever be the same as before but maybe with time. He is a SURVIVOR.
We know times are hard for everyone right now with gas prices and everything it seems going up but if you could please help/donate even just a little for Thors treatment and recovery we would be extremely greatful. ANY amount no matter how small will help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can give.
I’ve added some before, after and during photos/videos.
