Rabbit Rescue (Hampshire)

Donation protected
During this Covid-19 crisis, many rabbits in the Hampshire area are being neglected and abandoned, with too many shelters at breaking point, I am building a sanctuary to rehabilitate abused rabbits, get them treated for any afflictions and then work on rehoming them to new forever homes, with microchips, vaccinations and information for their new owners on how to avoid common issues such as bloat.

I am doing this because I have seen what abuse can do to a rabbit and what a loving hand can do to fix them. My rescue rabbits are the sweetest and most valued members of my family and I would be miserable without them. I want to offer this same life to all those rabbits out there - and to people who are willing to spend their next few years with a new and unconditionally loving companion.

By helping me reach this goal, you will be contributing to:

- A safe haven for abused and rescue rabbits
- Funds for treating and caring for rabbits
- Feed for housed rabbits
- An environment where rabbits can be safely rehomed, or situated here, indefinately, without rush of them leaving
- A local source of information and advice for already existing rabbit owners
- A chance for me to be able to get specialised rabbit veterinary qualifications

And much much more to come!

I also want to contribute to the really slack laws surrounding rabbits, allowing this to happen in the UK. I want to make it law that all rabbits must be micro-chipped, so that owners must take responsibility for their animals. I want to make information like the area of their surroundings being a certain size minimum and that bloat occurs in rabbits not getting enough hay more available. Finally, I want to make a massive dent in the statistic of homeless domesticated rabbits in the southern part of the UK but I can only do this with your help.

A little about me.

Before the lockdown, I was aspiring to be a police officer, or PCSO (Police community support officer). However, due to some newly founded medical issues, I have decided that it may not be in my best interest to partake in a thrilling career such as this, though it is very much so still on my radar.

One thing I have always been passionate about is the state of rabbit legislation in the UK and how easy it is to miss how much abuse goes on in the rabbit community. If I can make even the smallest dink in this, I will have succeeded.

I am 18 years old (will be 19 at the end of the year!) and currently work behind a counter in a shopping branch because I wanted to help out during this crisis. I have owned animals all my life and am familiar with the structure and sacrifices t his requires.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
