Rabble-Rouser Flood Recovery
Donation protected
Like most other downtown businesses, Rabble-Rouser Chocolate & Craft Co. was hit pretty badly by the flood on July 11 in Montpelier, Vermont. There is river silt and mud everywhere in the town and local businesses have undergone a lot of damage. This GoFundMe is being created to help Rabble-Rouser recover from the flood damage. Rabble-Rouser is known by the community as a hub of chocolate, art, craft, and culture. The Rabble-Rouser space has been a community hub for so many local residents. Workers at Rabble-Rouser have created genuine connections with people around town who get coffee from us everyday and also use our “Pay what you can” concept for food items which was put in place to tackle food insecurity in the town. The place has also helped host cultural events for communities which are underrepresented in Vermont. Rabble-Rouser is run mostly by immigrant and BIPOC folks, and we need your help more than ever right now.
This devastating flood has caused immense damage to Rabble-Rouser. The entity had also recently undergone changes in workers and was struggling already, this flood has only made the situation worse. With our basement being flooded, so much of our furniture getting destroyed, and chocolate-producing machines being affected, it will take huge amounts to recover and repair the space. The funds gathered from this page will be used for repair, lost inventory purchases, and fixtures in the space. Our employees and Montpelier volunteers have been working hard to clean up the space and we are still in the process of estimating damage and repair costs in order to start functioning again. Please help a vital community space and small worker-owned business to survive!
