Astronaut - Short Film
Hello!
We are a group of aspiring filmmakers who need your help to get this film off the ground and to make something amazing!
Astronaut is about a single mother, with her child, watches the moon landing on television. Inspired by the events, she dreams of traveling the stars but is unable to pursue them as a single mother. Her aspirations leave her but are tied down to earth by the mother’s responsibility and love to her own child, and she must find within herself the strength to have both.
Synopsis
A mother and her child rush into a small living room and sit in front of an old TV, excitingly watching the 1969 moon landing. They’re happy together, but it’s clear the mother longs for something more, excited by the thought of exploring the stars. The mother and child stand together in the hallway, watching a figure in an Astronaut suit leaving them. The mother begs them not to leave, trying to convince them they have a responsibility to stay, to look after their child. The Astronaut goes anyway, but their take-off goes wrong, sending their spaceship spiraling out of control and crashing in a forest. Discovering they’re the lone survivor of the crash, the Astronaut runs in panicked delirium as strange, shadowy figures seem to hunt them down through the woods. After being surrounded by the strange figures, they’re confronted by the child - the Astronaut takes off their helmet, revealing that they are the child’s mother, the same woman begging the Astronaut not to leave at the beginning.
The Astronaut returns to the spaceship, continuing their mission to explore the stars, but this time, accompanied by their child. She puts her helmet on the kid and the two venture into the unknown expanse of space.
