Race Across Scotland - 215 mile for Headway
So on Saturday 10th August at 6am I set off with 151 others from Portpatrick on the West Coast of Southern Scotland on a 220 mile ultramarathon along the Southern Upland Way headed all the way to Cockburnspath on the East Coast. I also ran the event last year however dropped out at 102 miles at Wanlockhead with a foot injury. This year I had to complete it. So over the last year I've focused on strength training and footcare. This paid off as I managed to finish the race in 85 hours, 44 minutes, and 48 seconds, finishing 3rd Female. My only aim was to finish this race and never imagined a podium finish. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure with its highs and lows and am so proud of what I have achieved.
I've decided to raise money for Headway. Over a year ago now a close family friend had an accident resulting in a serious head injury. Headway South Manchester and Stockport branch have provided much needed support to Ashley and his family and will continue to provide support in the future.
