Race for Action 100m Dash - Black Lives Matter
Donation protected
In wake of everything happening, I wanted to use my platform to encourage the community to take action and help in the fight against systemic racism and violence.
I created a challenge where 100m dash events will take place over a span of time. For each race won, I will be donating $100. For the races I do not win, I will be contributing double.
Donations from these events will be going to the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) and a portion to the Olympia Sports Camp Foundation. *GoFundMe applied a transaction charge of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation
About:
Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) help advance Canada's Black community in its efforts to achieve racial equity and create economic opportunities for members through the programs they offer to the Black community. They provide support to help advance businesses and prepare and mentor future Black leaders.
They deliver programs that support business and professional excellence, higher education, and economic development.
The funds to the BBPA will be dispersed accordingly:
- Financial Literacy - $3,000: To provide the tools for Black youth to be better prepared socioeconomically
- iCode+ - $3,000: the BBPA aims to ensure that the benefits of technology-based learning are extended to Black and disadvantaged communities
- BBPA Boss Women Entrepreneurship Training - $3,000: offering inside tips, tactics, and strategies for female success
- Young Professional Mentorship - $3,000: Young Professionals will be inspired and empowered to create and nurture professional networks to pursue vital opportunities and expand their leadership capabilities
- BBPA Discretionary Funds/ Tax Clinic - $4,923.79

A dedicated portion of the funds raised will also go to the Olympia Sports Camp Foundation to provide camperships to the Black community who will be identified by their subcommittee.
The Olympia Sports Camp Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with a specific mandate to help underprivileged children with the opportunity to experience camp and learn the necessary leadership and competitive skills required in all facets of their professional lives.
$614.49 - Will be part of Olympia's on-going efforts to fund camperships for marginalized and disadvantaged Black children from our community.
