Race for Anthony

Every year, over 600 young and seemingly healthy people die from sudden cardiac death or sudden adult death syndrome (SADS). The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) have been leading the way in research into SADS. They support young people diagnosed with potentially life threatening cardiac conditions and offer bereavement support to families affected by the loss of their loved ones. CRY also supports and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research.

On the 21st February 2021 in our second semester at the University of Bath, our beloved friend Anthony Evans unexpectedly suffered a cardiac arrest which he was unable to recover from, sadly passing away a few days later surrounded by his loving family.

Anthony was the life and soul of every party and had a highly infectious smile. He was the glue that held our university family together, and was always there to cheer us up. He will forever be in our hearts, and we are all so grateful for the amazing memories of him that we will cherish forever. In Anthony’s memory, a group of us are running the Bath Half marathon in March 2022, which is shortly after the anniversary of his passing, in order to raise money to help the charity CRY. We would be grateful for any donations and would ask if you could please share our page so that we can raise as much money as possible in Anthony’s memory for such an important cause, and spread awareness of cardiac risk in young people.
