Rachael’s Cancer and Amyloidosis Fight

Hello, my name is Jody Braun. My beautiful daughter, Rachael Fatout is fighting Amyloidosis Disease and Cancer.

All funds would go towards medical bills, medications, food, rent and basic living expenses.

In October 2023, Rachael was diagnosed with Renal/AL Amyloidosis and Thyroid Cancer. She is 36 years old. AL Amyloidosis is a rare plasma cell disorder originating in the bone marrow causing multiple organ failure. It is closely related to a type of bone marrow cancer called Myeloma. The Oncologist told us it’s like a blood cancer. Currently there is no cure. It is treated with chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. Her Thyroid Cancer requires separate surgery and treatment.

Currently she is going through weekly chemo infusion treatments for the AL Amyloidosis and has not been able to work steadily. She will also undergo a stem cell transplant once the chemo treatments are complete and the Oncologist believes her body can tolerate it. The process is long and difficult and she will not be able to work for at least 6 months following the transplant.

Surgery and treatment for the Thyroid Cancer will be scheduled either before or after the stem cell transplant. The type she has does not respond to the chemo she is currently receiving for the AL Amyloidosis and needs to be addressed separately.

The AL Amyloidosis is more critical than the Thyroid Cancer.

Anything you could spare would help and would be greatly appreciated. Rachael has such a big heart and always tries to help others in need. She never gives up. She is a fighter.
