AMPUTEE Needs HELP for NEW LEG
Donation protected
This is my beautiful, strong and COURAGEOUS daughter ... Rachael. Right after turning 25 this year, Rachael had to face a LIFE changing surgery. Her right leg ( below the knee ) was AMPUTATED. When given the news, days leading up to and day of the surgery, her FAITH in GOD and this decision NEVER diminished. On June 6, 2016 the surgery happened and she was a TRUE CHAMPION. Never shedding a tear and keeping a VERY POSITIVE attitude...Pretty remarkable, huh?
Here's the catch.... our insurance approved the surgery and the cast prosthetic leg.......THANK YOU GOD!! However, now when it is time for Rachael to get her NEW leg, we were informed that the insurance WOULD NOT cover it. As a mother how can you tell that to your daughter?? All she knew was that the surgery was to be done to give her the BEST quality of life and that she would be getting a NEW leg......We are trying to come up with what we can. We have our part that needs to be provided before she can pick up her leg. However with this most recent news, a couple of friends suggested that I set up this gofundme account to help out with any upcoming/ongoing medical expenses that we will be facing.
Also, if you could PLEASE share this with as many people that you know, I would greatly and sincerely appreciate it:)
Here is the JOURNEY that Rachael has had so far:
Rachael was born with Neurofibromatosis, Type 1. Neurofibromatosis, also known as NF, is a genetically inherited disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on nerves anywhere in the body at any time and may cause other abnormalities. The tumors may also cause bumps under the skin, colored spots, bone problems, pressure on spinal nerve roots, as well as other neurological problems. It is a progressive disorder that affects all races, all ethnic groups and both sexes equally. NF is the single most common genetic disorder of the nervous system, occurring in one in every 2500 to 3000 births. Despite its frequency, few people are familiar with NF. There is no cure for this disease/disorder.
Rachael's right leg, mostly below the knee, was consumed by a very large tumor. After many attempts in trying to stop the growth and/or surgically de-bulking, this tumor was not going anywhere. In the best interest of her health and the recommendation of her doctors, her leg had to be amputated. This is going to be a difficult time for her and our family. We are blessed to have the support system we have from all of our family and friends. Rachael is and has been ready for this new "Season" in her life. She has always struggled with some sort of pain and/or discomfort in her leg. Never complaining but ALWAYS trying to turn a negative into a positive.
She is excited, committed and ready for this journey.
Thank you so much in advance for your support, kindness and generosity. Our family SINCERELY appreciates everything that has been done and all that could possibly be done. GOD BLESS YOU!!!
