Rachel & Doug

Donation protected
I became quick friends with Rachel when we were in high school and we bonded over Martina McBride and History studying. She always said she would never marry and never wanted to. That is until she met Doug. She quickly realized that they were the perfect match. They were like PB and J or soup and salad. Both different but complimenting each other in perfect harmony. Doug and Rachel are one of the truest couples I have met. They have a beautiful love story. One that could be written down in poems. Doug asked Rachel to marry him and of course it was a resounding YES from Rachel.

They were preparing their tight budget barn wedding when they were given the news in August 2017 right before their union that Doug was diagnosed with cancer. The more technical term was Gray Zone Lymphoma Mass Mynozymal Symplar B large cell. It threw this couple into a daunting new reality during such a special moment in their lives. They postponed their honeymoon due to Doug’s health condition. They stayed true to each other and courageous throughout chemotherapy and the battle before them.

From August 2018-September 2018 they thought they had beaten the ugly monster of cancer and Doug was in remission. Soon after, their hope of a better reality, was thwarted when they learned he had another mass. In September 2018 right after their delayed honeymoon, he had relapsed. They have now been fighting for a few years to beat this ugly disease. They have remained positive and look forward to cancer free days.

Although, they have remained positive it has been a struggle to stay afloat financially. Rachel continues to work full time and Doug is working as much as he possibly can during this time. As of late, they are consumed with medical debt and struggle to see a glimmer of a way out. With all the bills coming it has been hard to remain positive. Doug and Rachel are kind loving people. As friends, family, and even strangers if you were to contribute just a few dollars it would add up to be a grateful and much needed amount to keep this sweet couple afloat. If we could all give a little the return would be far greater than you can imagine. If you are in the position to give, please consider giving a little to Doug and Rachel!
