In Memory of Bruce Carlson, for Rachel and Baby

Hi, we’re Theresa and Carly - middle and eldest sisters of a close knit family (originally Palmer crew - now Markell, Campana & Carlson). This fundraiser is in honor of our brother in law, Bruce Carlson to support his wife/our youngest sister Rachel and their baby, who is due to arrive December 17th.

Rachel worked in the oil industry out West after graduating from U of M, where she met and fell in love with Bruce Carlson. They came back to Michigan and got married in September of 2018 and we were excited to have them closer!

Rachel and Bruce found out they were expecting early this year - with a little girl! They decided to name her Enid, in honor of the city in Oklahoma where they met. Not long after they learned that Bruce was ill, but still hoped and planned for the best.

On November 9, Bruce was admitted to the icu and the severity of his condition quickly became clear. Rachel was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, and has spent every day with him. On the morning of December 7 Bruce died, with Rachel and people who love him at his side.

We mourn the loss of this funny, snarky, goofball and are heartbroken that Rachel and Enid will have to do life without him. Rachel has begun her maternity leave, and has a supportive employer, but we know that in addition to weathering the loss of Bruce and newborn times, any financial support may be important and incredibly helpful.
