Rachel Foster’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Rachel Foster, the beloved Executive Chef and owner of Moni's Pasta and Pizza in Edmond, Oklahoma, is currently in the Trauma ICU at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. A leader, fighter, friend, lover, winning marathon runner, and role model, Rachel is loved far and wide.
On November 9th, 2022, Rachel and her husband John were riding electric standup scooters in their neighborhood. She was leading the ride, and for unknown reasons she fell off the scooter. Rachel sustained a severe head injury, along with a total of 16 broken bones.
Due to having to make budget cuts while trying to keep their restaurant afloat during the pandemic, Rachel and John do not have medical insurance.
On November 10th, Rachel underwent brain surgery. In the days that followed, she still wasn’t breathing on her own, and had no response. She was in a coma, deemed unlikely to ever "wake up" or respond, and the doctors ran out of medicines and interventions. Rachel is a registered organ donor, and John and the family began the process of organ donation, knowing Rachel's wishes were "donate ‘em if I don’t need 'em." John wrote a long message to the family that God would either heal Rachel in the days it took to set up the organ donations, or God would heal others through Rachel's generous gift.
And on November 19, 2022, nearly a mere 24 hours before she was to be removed from life support, Rachel miraculously woke up! The family believe this is truly a God-given miracle. Rachel was responsive and began to breathe on her own for the first time in 10 days.
Rachel continues a positive trajectory of recovery, passing tests and becoming more and more able to control her body. She faces many more days/weeks of hospital care, at least 3 more surgeries to repair her skull and her bones, and likely many more medical therapies to come.
Anything you can give- whether it be monetary or prayerful-is truly appreciated in this difficult, yet miraculous time!
