Rachel Wold Berg metastatic thyroid cancer fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rochelle and I am making the go fund me for my friend Rachel Wold Berg during her time of need.
In the beginning of May 2023, Rachel Cardin, a well loved community member and mother of 6, was diagnosed with Metastatic Thyroid Cancer with multiple masses in her neck. Rachel is facing a total Thyroidectomy and a complete Bilateral Neck Dissection to remove cancerous lymph nodes. Proceeding that she will have to do radiation, intensive speech therapy (due to the cancer invading her vocal chords), physical therapy and will have to have several other follow-ups at United Hospital to ensure her calcium and hormones levels are stable, and the cancer is not returning. She has also been enduring other health issues that are non-cancer related. Rachel is unable to work due to pain brought on by the masses, many doctor's appointments, and the progression of her cancer. As of now, because of where the cancer is, she will lose the ability to sing, shrug her left shoulder, all feeling in her ear and possibly lose the ability to speak entirely. On top of Rachel's diagnosis, she recently experienced an incredibly difficult pregnancy and is handling her pre-term infant son's health complications; Rachel's other child is also under the care of physicians at Children's Hospital looking for a diagnosis for her health complications. Not to mention, the everyday struggles that come with having a large family and numerous repeated trips to the Twin Cities. Facing this new challenge of cancer, and the minimum recovery time of a year, her biggest concern through this battle is for her children and the family finances. Rachel is doing the best she can to support her family financially, emotionally, and physically. Due to these issues, Rachel has been unable to maintain steady employment and is humbly seeking support from our community and loved ones. If venmo is preferred it is @raecardin618 Thank you all for your support as she navigates this new challenge!
