Rachel, Luke, Loni Rae Broussard

As many of our family & friends know, Rachel & Luke have been struggling to have a baby for quite some time. Heartbreak after heartbreak God finally answered their prayers in His time & they welcomed an almost 9 pound baby girl, Loni Rae, on May 1st!!! All was perfect!!

Then a few hours after birth Loni Rae's breathing wasn't quite right & they took her for testing. Then the tragic news came... Loni Rae was diagnosed with tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia, which actually describes two congenital heart defects.

Loni was rushed to New Orleans to keep a close eye on her to schedule surgery & daddy Luke went with her while mommy Rachel had to stay behind because she wasn't discharged from the hospital yet.

Now after being there they discovered the initial diagnosis was a little more complicated. Loni Rae was diagnosed with major aortopulmonary collateral artery and ventricular septical defect that are associated with what they first thought just a little more intense.

Major aortopulmonary collateral arteries are arteries that develop to supply blood to the lungs when native pulmonary circulation is underdeveloped. Instead of coming from the pulmonary trunk, supply developes from the aorta and other systemic arteries. In Loni's case the pulmoary artery connecting her heart to her lungs is non-existent.

Ventricular septical defect is a common defect in newborns. It involves a hole in the wall between the heart's lower chambers.

Extensive surgeries (yes, plural, more than one) will be needed and done for both diseases to heal Loni. And with these surgeries comes lengthy hopital stays & a long time that Mommy and Daddy will not be working as to be there in New Orleans with her.

We set up this go fund me account to help pay the existing medical bills Loni Rae will have after these extensive surgeries. She does have insurance but it doesn't pay 100%. Also, to help Rachel & Luke stay in New Orleans close to their baby and to pay their home & travel expenses as neither of them are working right now & Rachel has been out of work for a few weeks now because of the high risk pregnancy & now Luke will be too because he wants to stay with his new baby also. All we ask is to put yourself in their shoes & give whatever you can. Any monetary donation would help tremendously along with a prayer for Loni Rae's total healing & recovery & for strength for Rachel & Luke...
Thanks to everyone willing to help!!!
