Rachel McCrary (Andrews) & Baby
Donation protected
As one of Rachel’s friends, I felt paralyzed by her news. Maybe you did too. Did you ask, “Is there anything I can do besides pray for her?” Actually, there is something we can ALL do for Rachel, Jason, and their baby girl right now – give a gift to support Rachel’s medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. Your donation will help lift the extra burden of financial worry so they can focus on Rachel and the baby’s health. Thank you for sharing this link with your circle and caring for this beautiful family. Please take a moment to read about what's happening in her own words below, as taken from Rachel's Caring Bridge page.
Here's Rachel's story:
Thank you so much for reaching out to learn about how Jason and I are doing and for praying for us. First, I never imagined needing to write a Caring Bridge page about my own story. Having worked in the healthcare field for so many years in a supportive role, it has been difficult to transition into being the person needing the support. We expect this journey to be long and difficult and would deeply appreciate the continued prayers and support.
Jason and I were blessed to learn in mid October that we were pregnant with our first child and are due June 22nd. This pregnancy has been incredibly hard on my body and we have recently learned why. On January 6th, I was admitted to the hospital and later diagnosed with Mesothelioma stage 4. This was very unexpected and a total shock for both Jason and me. While there is currently no cure for this type of cancer, my doctors and I are committed to fighting like there is a cure. We have the highest of confidence in our excellent care team in both Seattle and Tacoma, who are networking throughout the country and the world in order to provide me with the best outcome.
As you can imagine, being pregnant and having Mesothelioma has created a lot of overwhelming decisions for us. We have been given various treatment options. After much prayer we have chosen to go forward with chemo with the expectation of keeping our baby as safe as possible and help to relieve some of my symptoms. Once our baby is born, we will go full force with more aggressive chemotherapy and other experimental treatments to fight the cancer.
Family and friends will continue to update my Caring Bridge site as new information is available. We have been overwhelmed with and appreciate the many phone calls and messages of support, and hope this site will be a resource to keeping you informed. We will be linking a meal site that will help to provide meals throughout the coming months, and other ways people can continue to support us (rides, house cleaning, etc.).
Again, we cannot begin to express how much we appreciate all of the love, support and prayers that so many of you have offered us. The prayer Rachel’s dad has been praying over us is: Peace over despair, Truth over facts, Faith over odds, and Life over death. We believe in a mighty God who can do all things and we invite you to join us in praying for this.
