On April 27, 2015, Rachel started on a journey. She sat with her parents through shock, tears, and nervous laughter as two doctors explained to her she had a brain tumor that needed to be removed. The tumor was putting pressure on her brain stem causing speech problems, balance issues, loss of feeling in her left limbs, and other nerve symptoms. The doctors explained the associated risks of the surgery. She could be paralyzed, deaf, unable to swallow, require a trachiotomy and feeding tube in addition to other permanent nerve damage.
After recieving the diagnosis and her parents finished asking their questions she asked the her surgeon one last question, " Do you have faith? " He responded, " I have a lot of faith." She needed to know he had someone beyond himself guiding his hands in the surgery.
The surgery was at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on May 14, 2015 at 7:30 AM. Numerous family members, friends, and loved ones filled the waiting room during the 12 hour surgery.
The surgery was a success! The doctors greeted her loved ones with a smile before saying they were able to remove almost all (98%-99%) of the tumor without any complications. She could hear (although muffled on the right side), move her arms and legs, swallow, and resume her normal speech again.
Rachel spent a few days in the ICU before moving to the nuero floor. Rachel progressed so well, she checked out of the hospital several days prior to their expected release date.
Sadly, her stay at home was short lived and her road to recovery had a set back as she began to leak spinal fluid out of her nose. Rachel went back into the ER and then ICU where the doctors worked dilligently to control the infection she had developed and help alleviate the pressure from the excessive spinal fluid.
The doctors believed she was back on the road to recovery and Rachel was finally able to go home. She was eager to start her out-patient rehab. She was home. She was finally able to sleep in her own bed.
Unfortunately, twelve hours later, Rachel encountered another set back and was back in the ER. She is still in the hospital and is currently facing another procedure with even more extreme risks of disability and paralyzation.

This site isn't being set up to only raise financial support. While the financial burden of her surgery is great on her family, Rachel and her family also need your support spiritually.
Please consider supporting her with continual prayer and fasting Sunday June 14 (from food, sweets, soda/pop, tv, social media, cell phone usage, etc.). Please pray that God will heal her body and the Fruits of the Spirit will be produced in her. She believes in God's sovereignty over her during this journey. Rachel and her family need to experience the Fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
Pray that Rachel can find physical rest as well so that her body can heal. The constant discomfort in her head never goes away. Since the surgery, Rachel has had a constant pressure on the right side of her head (similar to the pressure in your head/ears you feel when flying in an airplane and all you want to do is pop your ears ... but five times greater!).
Rachel is a fighter and a child of God. A daughter of the Everlasting King. She is embracing this journey and praising God at every set back and detour. Pray for her to keep a positve attitude moving her forward rather than the latter.
"The deepest level of worship is praising God inspite of the pain, thanking God during the trials, trusting Him when we're tempted to lose hope and LOVING HIM when he seems so distant and far away. At my lowest, God is my hope. At my darkest, God is my light. At my weakest, God is my strength. At my saddest, God is my comforter."
