Adele's specialized wound bed fund
Donation protected
Hello to all,
My name is Sydney Richard and I have been a personal care assistant for Adele for over a year. Adele is a 59 year old women who is currently resiting in her home in the western part of Massachusettes. Adele has been a quadriplegic since 1979 when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. She is unable to move from the waist down and has very little range of motion in her arms and upper body. Because she has very little sensation in her body, she is unable to feel when pressure is causing breakdowns in her skin.Throughout the years, she has dealt with multiple wounds and sores due to this constant pressure. These wounds have kept her bed bound and hardly able to get up and shower. Before adele was experiencing these problems, she enjoyed being up in her wheelchair helping people and animals any way that she coud. Being an avid pet lover, she and her partner, Jim, have been guardians of multiple resue kittens and dogs.
The past year, Adele has been stuck in bed with a very deep tunneling wound on her left leg called a stage 4 pressure ulcer. She has also been in and out of the hospital with multiple skin infections because of the open wound. Adele's specialist Dr. Helen Perakis has ordered her to be laying on a specialized bed called the Dolphin 900T. This matress moves automatically inside in order to relieve pressue on the persons body. Having this matress will not only heal her wounds correctly, but it will also prevent future wounds from occuring. The matress that Adele currently owns is just a regular overlay air matress that does nothing to relieve pressure. in fact, it has actually made her wounds worse and harder to take care of. Medicare and Medicaid will not pay for the dolphin 900T because adele lives in her home as opposed to living in a nursing home. Therefore her family is forced to pay out of pocket for this neccesity which is nearly impossible! The dolphin system costs 19,000 to purchase. We are asking graciously for donations of any size to help pay for this extremly neccesary system. If you are not able to donate please keep adele in your prayers. any positive vibes and thoughts sent her way will help heal her spirits. I want more than anything to see Adele happy, healthy, and out of the house as she derves to be. Please help her get her life back! thank you for reading we appreciate it.
