Over the past week our Boulder, CO mountain community was crippled by wildfire.
The "CalWood" fire obtained the status of the largest fire in the history of Boulder County and did so within it's first 24 hours. A virtual freight train of fire and smoke that shook us all to the bone.
Over 400 fire fighters are working tirelessly to reel things back in.
Many of you know that Morgan and I live up the James Canyon. We are above the city of Boulder about 4 miles beyond the small mountain town of Jamestown. Jamestown inhabits 200 people, has a tiny post office, a fire station, an amazing little restaurant known as "The Merc" and is by all means "our home".
I am starting this gofundme with two goals in mind:
1. To help give The Merc a fighting chance
Without The Merc, Jamestown does not have the beacon we all need. The Merc serves as a restaurant and the glue to hold our community together. It is truly the hub and heartbeat of Jamestown and it's people
A portion of funds from this campaign will go directly to Rainbow and Adam, the owners of The Merc.
2. RAD would love to be able to gift as many of the rural firehouses food/meals as soon as we are able to. We cannot do this alone as COVID has not left RAD with a large donation bucket this year. Any funds we do not donate directly to The Merc will be utilized to give back to the firefighters who watch over us day in and day out. We simply could not be more grateful to all of them.
*To clarify, all funds raised will go towards supplies to give back to the firefighters and to The Merc.
Thank you all for sending the unfathomable amount of support that has been pouring in day and night. We are simply overwhelmed by the kindness.
