Raelynn Faye and Mays Family
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and hear Ms. Raelynn Faye’s story. First and foremost, she’s quite the fighter. Not just now, but even in Mommy’s belly. Early on in Myranda’s pregnancy, Devin and Myranda found out they were blessed with TWINS! Two little girls to be exact. When they visited the doctor to witness the blessing they were given by ultrasound, they were told that one of the babies (Baby B) did not have a heart beat. Sadly, at 16weeks they discovered that Baby B also never formed a heart. Raelynn continued to nurture Baby B with nutrients and was pumping blood to her sister in attempts to keep her alive. She was fighting for both herself AND her sister. The true love of twins can never been known without experiencing it yourself. But if there’s a good way to explain it where it may even possibly be felt and understood, it’s witnessing it inside a mother’s belly like this. Raelynn was under massive amounts of stress while trying to maintain nutrition, blood flow an oxygen for two. The doctors advised Devin and Myranda to undergo a surgery that would separate the sisters from sharing nutrients, and relieve Raelynn of any stress she would incur moving forward, giving her a better fighting chance to make it to possible term. Doctors did not believe she would make it to term and wanted to deliver at 33 weeks and put her on bed rest at 24. Devin and Myranda made it to Florida where they would be performing the surgery on the twins. When Myranda checked in she tested positive for COVID-19. They still moved forward with the surgery but her and Devin were quarantined in the hospital room after. During their quarantine, Raelynn’s heart rate would begin to drop even though the surgery was successful. It continued to be a battle to keep her heart rate up. At that point doctors believed that she would have a better fighting chance, earthside. So at 23 weeks, Raelynn joined us in this world on April 8th at 1.12lbs, 8.5 inches long at 9:03pm. She is now fighting for her life in NICU. Due to Covid, Mama and Daddy had not been able to see Raelynn until recently. They also are limited to where they can stay immediately because of this. Devin is currently with Myranda but in the near future will have to return to work to be able to still provide for his family. With that being said, he will drive an 11 hour round trip on weekends and whenever possible to go back and forth to Georgia and Florida to be with Myranda and Raelynn while their parents are taking turns keeping their 2 daughters, Harper and Paisley, in GA. There are a lot of costs incurred with the unexpected events that have unfolded. Including the surgery being in limbo of whether or not it is covered by Devin’s insurance. They would not approve the surgery prior but Doctors believed this was Raelynns best chance of survival. If your heart leads you to donate to help with the costs of travel, surgery, food, a place to stay and to hopefully bring their daughters down to eventually meet their tiniest, baby sister, over the span of several months while doctors monitor Raelynns milestones that she is required to meet before coming home to Georgia, you may do so here. We appreciate any uplifting prayers and positive thoughts you send their way. If you are not able to contribute monetarily and would still like to help, please reach out to me, Christine (Devin’s sister), Devin’s parents, Carla & Billy Mays or to Myranda’s parents, Lori Dohrn Smith & Brad Schreiber.
