8 years ago Maria Perez walked into church on a Sunday morning carrying her newborn grandson. Since that morning Maria and her husband, Cruz have been raising him and his four younger siblings. Cruz and Maria have been married 43 years and have legal guardianship of all 5 children. Maria has been battling cancer for several years. She has managed to drive the kids to school and appointments even through her chemotherapy and radiation. Unfortunately, Maria's battle is almost over. She has been moved to a hospice room so she can been surrounded by her family as she waits to go to heaven with the Lord she so dearly loves.
At this time we are trying to make funeral arrangements so in the next few weeks we will be able to lay Maria to rest.
We pray for strength for Cruz as he faces losing Maria and the task of raising these 5 precious children alone. We also ask for prayers for these children as they lose the grandmother that has taken care of them as a loving mother.
